MCT Oil for Energy and Weight Loss: Try it in your Coffee

There are many different types of fat out there, some of which come with a wide spectrum of health benefits. One specific type of fat that is proving to be extremely beneficial for our bodies is medium chain triglycerides (MCT).

One specific benefit is MCT’s ability to help you lose weight.

Fats are not usually associated with weight loss, at least not until recently. But medium chain triglycerides have a completely different cell structure than other fats and are quickly absorbed by the body, which means they don’t get stored as fat. Long chain triglycerides are absorbed by the body more slowly and are stored for later energy, whereas medium chain triglycerides have a shorter cell structure, which makes them easier to break down and be absorbed by the body.

According to an article titled “The Benefits of Medium Chain Triglycerides” published by Very Well, “Study results showed that the diet rich in medium chain triglycerides was associated with a greater loss of body fat (perhaps partly due to increased burning of calories). Drawing their conclusions from animal-based studies and clinical trials, the review’s authors note that medium chain triglycerides appear to increase energy expenditure (i.e., the burning of calories) and promote satiety (the sensation of fullness after consuming food).”

One way to get your daily intake of medium chain triglycerides is by consuming coconut oil. I have made it a habit to put about a teaspoon of coconut oil in my coffee every morning, and have found that it adds a certain smoothness to my coffee that I never realized was missing, and it tastes like a much needed, spontaneous tropical vacation right in my coffee mug.

Adding pure MCT oil to your coffee in the morning will give you a smooth energy that lasts and reduce carb cravings. And — MCT oil is odorless and tasteless, so you don’t need to worry about ruining you morning brew.
